About me
"daddy sandwich"
I’ve been shooting since the 90s, hand processing black and white film in a little Devon darkroom. It taught me the patience and attention to detail I still bring to every frame. By 2000, I was photographing big-name DJs and the occasional Oxford University VIP (Michael Jackson and Bill Clinton among them).
I shot my first wedding in 2006, the same year I was fast-tracked (perhaps side-tracked?) into the Civil Service. For two decades I have balanced photography, a young family and a full time career advising governments on things I care about: education, climate change, recycling, and even quantum computers. The 'Keep Calm and Carry On' spirit comes in handy, whether it's a whirlwind wedding moment or wondering if mum has that spare shirt we discussed for Oliver, who it tuns out loves mud.
When I’m not behind the camera, I’m thinking of the beach, somewhere not far from that little darkroom in Devon. Our boys, Ruben and Albion, don’t let the daydreams last long, especially when I’m the filling in a “Daddy Sandwich.”
My approach
Whether it's your wedding, your family day out or your special occasion, your photos should be epic, beautiful, and heartfelt. It starts by understanding you and what is important to you - much more than just a 'must-have shots' list.
I love helping people to make beautiful imagery, without side-tracking you from having fun. I’m in the background, taking an understated approach to photos, not an extra 'main character' in your day. I don’t stage anything dramatic, but I will guide you to be your best photographic selves.
After your day, I’m obsessive about the perfect edit. No outsourcing, no batch editing, just pride in outstanding imagery.
